A Virtual Breakfast at Tiffanys Bridal Shower

In June 2021, I threw Jennifer a virtual bridal shower after a year of postponing. She had always wanted a Breakfast at Tiffanys themed shower and before the pandemic, I had a clear plan of action in my mind to achieve that theme. I had rented a venue, hired a balloon artist, a baker, a photographer - the works. Unfortunately, just a few months before her original date, we were forced to postpone… and postpone again… and then a third time. After postponing so many times and with the future uncertain, Jennifer decided it would be safer and easier to have a virtual bridal shower instead and Zoom call everyone. As her planner, I had to quickly pivot. The first thought that came to my mind when she mentioned virtual was that I didn’t just want her sitting on the computer with a sad little “Miss to Mrs” balloon garland behind her and no real fanfare. You only get one bridal shower, and I wanted her to feel special! Since her original shower was going to take place in San Francisco, CA and her new virtual shower would take place in her home in Markham, ON in Canada, I had to find an all new vendor team while being based in Los Angeles, CA. I was ready for the challenge!

Working in different countries and not having a team over there, I knew I would have to recruit help. Thankfully, Jennifer’s fiance Derek was more than willing! I created a vision centered around this dessert cart that would give off tea party vibes. Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper dessert cart without some sweets! I had this beautiful cake created by Gayethiry. The adorable macarons were created to look like little Tiffany jewelry boxes. Finally, to finish it off, I added florals in crystal vases by the talented Rachel A. Clingen! To add even more to the femininity of the shower, we included more florals on the floor by the dessert cart and welcome sign. I shipped Derek a bunch of decor to use as well, such as the Tiffanys cup and framed artwork seen above, as well as the welcome sign and confetti. To add even more wow factor and colors to the scheme, we would have all presents wrapped like a Tiffanys box and add a balloon garland. Since I wasn’t physically there, Derek and Jennifer’s mom graciously wrapped all the presents in the themed paper and ribbon. I sent them a handful of Tiffanys shopping bags for the smaller gifts too to add a bit more authenticity to the event. Of course, it wouldn’t be an event in the pandemic if someone didn’t cancel! The evening before the event, my balloon artist cancelled on me as she had been exposed to someone with COVID-19. Thankfully, Derek stepped up and created the balloon garland with my virtual help! I sent him a shopping list and some cash and once he had the materials in hand, I sent him a couple of easy-to-follow tutorials. You’d never know it was his first balloon garland!

Now that decor was taken care of, it was time to nail down the experience. I wanted everyone to feel like they were together despite the difference, so I mailed every guest a favor box. The favor box included little candies in custom baggies, custom sugar cookies, and fun bridal shower games. I also emailed everyone a Breakfast at Tiffanys Zoom backdrop to use. Overall it was a really beautiful and successful event! Jennifer was blown away when she walked in. Seeing her face light up when she saw the whole setup is why I love this job!
