Why You Should Hire a Photographer at Your Bachelorette Party

All Photos by Eliza Bolen Photography

In September, I finally got to have my own Bachelorette party! My sister, Brooke, and I planned it together. We would have a girly weekend at The Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo. While she was in charge of all the logistics and planning most of the activities, there was something I was adamant on taking on myself - that was hiring a photographer. It’s not something that any of my friends have done, but I thought it would be so fun. The catalyst for the idea was that I wanted more pictures of my friends around my house and I thought what better way to get them? I had all my besties in one place! Being that everyone except one person were from different states, this was definitely not an opportunity to be wasted. I began my search for a photographer and found the talented Eliza Bolen! Her photos were light and airy which is exactly what I wanted.

An important part of the shoot was giving everyone a heads up ahead of time. Not everyone is comfortable in front of the camera. I gauged everyone’s interest and they were all super excited! To take it a step further, we all coordinated outfits within a pink, blue and neutral color scheme. Everyone agreed to wear dresses (with the exception of my friend, Fredo, of course). When the day came, we had a blast! Leading up to the shoot, everyone kept saying how excited they were. The great thing about hiring a photographer at your Bachelorette party is that it acts as a party favor and an experience! We all laughed so much while being cute and silly together. Since my friends knew about the shoot ahead of time, they quietly organized a little Bachelorette-style prank behind my back - they printed my husbands face and surprised me with them during a “friend reveal!” I remember being confused why they wanted a reveal picture when I had already seen what they were wearing, but when I turned around it was so funny!

Looking back, I am so glad I hired a photographer. It became the main topic of the weekend and afterwards! My friends got fun photos to fill their Instagram feeds, I got pictures for my house, and we all had so much fun together. I will cherish these photos forever.
